How to Use the Qwello App.
Open the app and tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner. Then tap "View and Manage Your Account " and " Payment Method." Select the payment method you want to use and enter all the necessary information.
You can reserve a charging station for 15 minutes via the Qwello app for 10 kr. Select the charging station you want on the map, click "Reserve," and confirm your reservation. You must be logged in to reserve a station.
With the Qwello app, you can see in real time which charging stations are available. Our stations are equipped with sensors that detect illegal parking, which blocks access to the charging poles. We share all this information in the app.
When you open the app for the first time, you'll need to grant the app access to your location services. Tap "Get Started!" and then "Share My Location." Tap "Continue," enter your email address, and choose to set a password for added security.
Each Qwello account allows only one active charge at a time. However, the account is not strictly tied to a specific vehicle, so you can charge as many different vehicles as you like, as long as it is done on separate occasions.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pricing and Payment.
The parking fee must be paid separately and is not included in the charging cost. It is important to check the parking signs at the charging station so you don’t miss any fees. Qwello is not responsible for the costs of any parking tickets.
By charging an infrastructure fee—in the form of a per-minute charge—we improve the availability of charging stations by providing an incentive to move the car once it is fully charged. We are committed to ensuring that charging stations are used efficiently so that more customers can access this scarce resource.
Our pricing model may be more expensive for cars with a lower charging power—for example, 3.7 kW—since the car needs to charge for a relatively long time compared to the amount of energy. To avoid having to park overnight, we have a cap of 45 SEK on the infrastructure fee between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Since prices may vary between charging stations, please refer to the pricing information displayed on the charging station's screen or in the app.
*During nighttime hours (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), you only pay the infrastructure fee for up to 3 hours; any time beyond that until 7:00 a.m. is free.
If you paid by tapping your debit card, you'll need to log in to your bank account and locate the payment. In the transaction details for the payment, you’ll find “qwo.bz” followed by a 6-character code. Enter the code and the date at https://qwello.se/sv/invoice. Then click “Get Receipt.”
When you authenticate using a contactless payment method, an amount of 400 SEK is temporarily reserved from your bank account. Qwello releases the reserved amount as soon as the top-up is complete, but your bank must also release the reservation before the funds become available.
If you have the app, you can easily pay within the app using a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card , or PayPal. If you are not paying through the app, you can pay with a credit card, or with a Giro/EC card, Maestro, V Pay, or Apple, Google, and Samsung Pay.
The rate consists of a price per kWh for as long as the car is actively charging, and a per-minute fee for use of the infrastructure that applies as long as the car is connected to the charging station.
If you pay directly on-site with a debit or credit card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay, you will be charged immediately. If you charge your device using the app, you will be charged the following day. The receipt for the charging session will be sent to you via email, but you can also download it in the app.
As a registered user, you authenticate yourself via the app when you arrive at a charging station. Once the charging session is complete, your registered payment method is automatically charged. The total cost is also shown on the station’s display once charging is complete.
You can pay with your Qwello card at any charging station that appears in the app. To see the authentication methods for each station, simply tap the station on the app’s map. Once authentication is complete, just plug in the charging cable and lock your car.
Frequently Asked Questions About Charging Station Reservations.
You can reserve a station to secure your charging spot for up to 15 minutes for just 10 kr.
You can reserve a charging station through the Qwello app for just 10 kr. The reservation is valid for 15 minutes and is only available when you are within a 15-minute drive of the charging station.
On the app’s map, select the charging station you want, then tap “Reserve” and confirm. You must be logged in to make a reservation.
Currently, it’s only possible to reserve Qwello stations; charging stations not operated by Qwello are not yet technically equipped for this feature.
When you arrive at our charging stations, look for the station with a steady yellow light.
The station’s screen will display “Reserved,” indicating that it’s reserved for you.
If several stations turn out to be reserved, or if you find an available station that you’d prefer to use, you can park at any of them instead. Your reservation will automatically switch to your new station as soon as you verify your identity.
Either an object or a car is parked in the parking space in front of the reserved charging station.
Yes, you can cancel your reservation. When you reserve a charging station, a timer appears showing how much time you have left before you must arrive at your reserved charging station. To cancel your reservation, tap “Cancel.” When the app asks if you’re sure you want to cancel the reservation, tap “Cancel” to complete the cancellation.
If your reserved charging station is blocked and you cannot access it, we will refund the reservation fee in full. While your reservation is still active, you can reserve another Qwello station for free.
You can only reserve one charging station at a time.
If you cancel your reservation within the first minute after starting it, we will not charge you. If you cancel after the first minute has passed, you will be charged 10 kr.
Illegal parking violates traffic regulations and is dealt with accordingly by the authorities.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Charging Stations.
All Qwellos charging stations are equipped with a status light that indicates the stations' availability.↩︎
Green: available for charging
Yellow: reserved, or temporarily blocked.
Blue: charging in progress
Red: maintenance in progress, or blocked by someone who parked there without charging.
Please note that you can always start a charging session regardless of the status light’s color, except when maintenance is in progress or during an ongoing charge or reservation.
Yes, you can charge your car 24 hours a day at our charging stations.
You can connect your Type 2 cable to any charging station equipped with a Type 2 outlet. However, some of our charging stations have only a built-in charging cable, and you cannot use your own cable at those stations.
If you use our 6-meter integrated cable, your car will be able to charge at a maximum of 11 kW (16A, 3-phase).
If you use your own cable, your car can charge at a maximum of 22 kW (32A, 3-phase).
Please note that the final charging power depends on various factors, such as: the car’s maximum charging power (a car with a charging power of 3.7 kW will not be able to charge at a higher rate regardless of the cable chosen), whether the car is charging with single-phase or 3-phase power, the type of cable (e.g., 16A or 32A), and the outdoor temperature (extremely hot or cold temperatures have a negative effect on the battery).
Our charging stations are equipped with a Type 2 connector, which is the standard for AC (alternating current) charging.
Connectors such as CCS and CHAdeMO are designed for DC charging (direct current) and cannot be used at our charging stations.
There are many possible reasons why the car isn't charging. See the common causes below and how to resolve them.
1. Check that the cable is properly connected to both the vehicle and the charging station. Try unplugging the cable and plugging it back in.
2. Double-check that the car doesn’t have any active settings preventing charging, such as scheduled charging—where the car only charges between certain times—or a battery level limit (most cars have a default setting of 80%).
3. The cable may be defective; if so, try replacing it at charging stations where this option is available.
4. Temporary communication issues can sometimes occur, where the charging station “misreads” the car or the car sends incorrect information to the charging station. In this situation, try unplugging the cable from the car and restarting the charging session.
If the car still isn’t charging, the charging station may be defective. Try switching to another charging station or call us at +468 124 114 47.
If the charging station does not detect your vehicle, it is likely because your car is not fully blocking the charging post. The charging stations are equipped with sensors that detect when an object is blocking them, so it is important that your car is within the sensors’ range (approximately 120 cm).
If the charging station still does not detect your vehicle despite proper parking, please contact us at +468 124 114 47.
Cars blocking charging stations are, unfortunately, a problem that affects many customers who urgently need to charge their vehicles, and we therefore ask that you respect other customers’ need to use the charging station.
In most cases, you can park at charging stations without charging as long as your car is a rechargeable vehicle. However, these rules may vary from city to city, so we always recommend that you contact the relevant authority for a specific answer.
Qwello is not responsible for the cost of parking tickets.
Most of our charging stations are for individual use and can therefore only be used by one car at a time, but some charging stations can charge two cars simultaneously.
If you’re unsure about the rules at the charging station you’re at, feel free to call us at +468 124 114 47.
Frequently Asked Questions About Charging at Our Stations.
As a registered customer, you can verify your identity through the app by clicking the "Charge" button at your selected Qwello charging station. If you want to charge without the app, you’ll need to verify your identity using any contactless payment method (see also: How do I pay for my charge?).
As soon as the light ring around the charging port (and the plug, if you’re using the integrated charging cable) starts to glow, you can connect your car with the selected charging cable and start charging.
To end charging, you must first unlock your car to release the cable, then unplug it and return it to the station if you are using the integrated cable.
If the cable cannot be disconnected from the car, it means that charging has not been completed. Charging must first be stopped from the car’s side before the cable can be disconnected. The process for ending the charging session may vary depending on the car model, but most commonly, charging ends when you unlock the car.
There could be many reasons for this:
You are using the built-in cable, which is only capable of supplying the car with 11 kW (16A, 3-phase)
You are using a cable that does not support 32A (3-phase).
Your car model is not capable of accepting 11/22 kW.
The car’s battery is more than 80% charged, which reduces the charging power to protect the battery.
Your car currently only allows less than 11/22 kW (the car battery is too hot, the car’s electronics are overheated, etc.)
The car has a setting active that reduces the charging current.
This is due to load balancing. The available power (a fixed amount) is distributed among all connected charging stations. The fewer charging stations that are active, the more power a single charging station can receive and deliver.
Before connecting the cable in your car, you can end a session by returning the cable to the station.
Yes, you can charge it no matter what the weather is like. It doesn't matter if it's raining, snowing, windy, or very hot!
No, you won't get an electric shock when you connect the cable to your car or while it's charging. The current doesn't start flowing until the car signals that it's ready to charge and the cable is securely connected.
